About Us - History

Army Goodwill School was started at Sulkoot, in a rented building on 01 April 2004.  It was shifted to Wayne on 29 April 2005 and permanent structure was constructed by 05 May 2005. The school is located at Wayne, Kupwara on Gulgam – Halmatpora road, approximately 5 km from Kupwara town. It is situated in a picturesque surrounding and the environment is typical of the beautiful valley in which it is situated. The calm and quiet environment of the school is conducive for the academic as well as overall development of children.

The school is located in very picturesque surroundings, flanked on both sides by lofty mountains and the environment is typical of the beautiful valley and pine forests around the school and has ever since grown from a humble beginning to one of the reputed schools of the region providing quality education for the people. The school provides quality education as also gives due focus on extra-curricular activities for the all-round development of a child.  The school has at present 301 children enrolled and the number is growing with each passing year.  It has a faculty comprising of 18 teachers & six administrative staff. Transportation facilities are available from all corners of Kupwara District up to a distance of 20 km. The steady progress made by it in the preceding years has enabled the school being affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi in the year 2011 and the first batch of Class X students appeared for their Board exams in 2013. All batches since then have been achieving 100% results.The school was upgraded upto class 12th in the year 2015 and the first batch of class 12th students is going to appearing for their Board exams in March 2019.
